Race 1

Having got to grips with the streets of Pau during Friday practice; Team JVA drivers Duncan Tappy and Jonathan Kennard (Jono) qualified 15th and 5th for the opening race of 2009.

The new Masters schedule saw the teams line up for the longer race on the Saturday afternoon following the qualifying session. At the start both Kennard and Tappy made clean starts before the field carefully negotiated the first turn. A mistake from Kral promoted Kennard to 4th while Tappy passed Rossi and Puglisi in the early stages of the race.

Pole sitter Fabio Liemer built a commanding lead while Kennard defended Kouzkin for fourth; eventually loosing out on the final lap. Further incidents including Snoeks, Afanasiev, Trummer and Andersen saw Tappy finish just outside the points in 9th.
